Saturday, December 08, 2007 11am-1pm
Wal-Mart on 29North

CCPJ is sponsoring a demonstration urging
people
not to buy war toys for children. Let's make
a strong statement
that we should not suggest with our gifts
that war is a fun or
good activity. Demonstration site: on the
street corner where
cars turn in to Wal-Mart property. Signs
will be provided (or
bring your own).

CELEBRATE INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS DAY
WITH A LETTER AND A CANDLE
Sunday, December 09, 2007 3:00 pm
St. Paul's Memorial Church, 1700 University
Ave

What better way to commemorate Human Rights
Day (December 10th) than by standing up for
those
whose rights have been denied? Amnesty
International's worldwide goal of 70,000
letters can make
all the difference to these individuals and
remind them that their struggle has not been
forgotten.

Not sure what the Universal Declaration of
Human Rights is, or what it means for
justice and
human dignity? Come to the candle-lit
reading at 3:00 pm.

Sponsored By: Amnesty International Group

stories of both hope and terror from around
the
world. Cautionary tales that show how peace
is destroyed by fear, poverty, and ideology.
And
heroic tales of peace achieved through
conflict resolution, cross-cultural studies,
respect for
civil and human rights, and the nurturing of
a just and tolerant society.

Presented by Tidewater Peace Alliance,
a coalition of peace and social justice
organizations.

Films and events l held at either Naro
Cinema or Studio for the Healing Arts,
Norfol, Virginia..

SILENT MARCH
Friday, December 7, 2007 6:00 pm
Free Speech Wall, Downtown Mall,
Charlottesville

Greg Gelburd invites us all to join him in
silent protest of the current
administration's
policies:

There is power and strength in silence. The
march will consist of walking on the
downtown mall,
without placards, signs or voices, once a
week, from the free speech wall to the Omni
and back. A
ten minute walk. In silence, centering on
moving the world in the right direction.
Each week, on
Fridays at 6 PM. Please wear something
white.
