(1) MOVIE: 'RED STATE' WITH FILMMAKER MICHAEL SHEA
Thursday, February 22, 2007 7:00 pm
Sojourners Church (UCC), 1017 Elliott Ave. corner of Elliott and Monticello
Ave.
The Charlottesville Center for Peace and Justice hosts the film and
filmmaker for a screening of the movie: RED STATE.
Background:
Following the elections of 2004, filmmaker, Michael Shea set out across the
country to visit the "red states" and find an answer to the question that
haunts thinking people around the world: Why would anyone vote for George
Bush?
Mr. Shea interviewed hundreds of "actual" people - not pundits, politicians
or reporters - to
find out what they had to say about their country and themselves, and what
makes a Red State person Red. The result of that journey is the thoughtful,
funny, and provocative documentary, RED STATE.
Michael Shea will be available after the film for a discussion.
Free and open to the public.

Creative Non-Violence (Kathy Kelly's group that was formerly Voices In The
Wilderness) in which other citizens around the U.S. are demanding no more
funding for Iraq and occupying representatives offices as needed. Please
see www.vcnv.org

(7) ACTION ALERT - DOMINION POWER
Please make calls NOW - The vote may be today.
Dominion Power is pushing legislation in VA that would:
> massively increase elecricity bills
> subsidize nuclear power
> make you pay Dominion to build a new waste coal power plant in Wise
County, VA
> promote the controversial interstate power line in northern VA
Please contact your state legislators - 800-889-0229 and ask that they
oppose Delegate Hogan's bill #3068 and Senator Norment's bill #1416 to
"ReREGULATE" Dominion Power.
Both bills allow Dominion to pass on to consumers ALL costs of building a
large coal burning plant in SW VA.
The Senate version also allows Dominion to pass on to customers all costs of
eventually
dismantling old nuclear reactors This legislation should not be considered
now as much more time is needed to study the issues involved. (Reregulation
can be a good idea if it is done right).
Stop Dominion's rush to ReREGULATE to benefit their profit margin!
PLEASE NOTE: for Charlottesville contact Delegate David Toscano at 804
698-1057 and Senator Creigh Deeds at 804 698 7525.
