West end of the Downtown Mall, near the Ice Park
Charlottesville will be one of the stops on this Journey which begins in
Crawford, Texas at Camp Casey on July 10. The Journey will continue through

Charlottesville on July 20.
Come out to the rally and support Cindy's Journey to end the war, bring the

On July 29, the Journey for Humanity will hold a huge GATHER-IN OF HEARTS

(3) CCPJ's ANNUAL HIROSHIMA/NAGASAKI DAY COMMEMORATION
Saturday, August 04, 2007 3 - 5:00 pm
Downtown Mall Central Place
Each year in early August, we join millions around the world who say "Never
Again" to the use of nuclear weapons.
On August 6 and 9 the U.S. dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki,
Japan, killing hundreds of thousands instantly, destroying the cities and
leaving countless thousands suffering over long periods of time, some still
today.
The Charlottesville Center for Peace and Justice will be near the central
fountain with our
literature, petitions, buttons and bumper stickers, our large sidewalk
panels depicting the
history of nuclear weapons, and our paper peace crane table where you can
learn to make your own paper cranes.
The paper crane, historically a symbol of good fortune in Japan, has come to
represent peace and a fervent wish for peace. Japanese school children
bring thousands upon thousands of folded paper cranes to the Hiroshima and
Nagasaki Peace Parks every day. They have been doing this for nearly 60
years.
Stop by our display, fold a paper crane and
Please contact Sue if you can help out at one of our tables.

(4) NATIONAL IMPEACHMENT CALL IN WEEK!
DURING THE WEEK OF JULY 9-13
We are asking that people call their representatives every day during the
week
of July 9-13, to ask them to investigate and impeach George W. Bush and
Dick Cheney for high crimes and treason.
July 9-13 is the big push.
Need a reason? Here's a long list.

(5) ACTION ALERT - VADEQ WATER CONTROL BOARD HEARING
Wednesday, July 18, 2007 7:00 pm
Louisa Middle School, 1009 Davis Hgwy (Rt. 22), Mineral, VA
The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality is poised to re-issue the
permit to Dominion Power which allows it to dump very hot wastewater, used
for cooling its reactors, into Lake Anna without any upper limits.
Dominion treats this a portion of this recreational lake, currently home to
8000 folks, as its
own private Waste Heat Treatment Facility. These public surface waters have
never been
officially transferred to Dominion ownership by act of the Federal
Government. Therefore, this is very likely a violation of the Clean Water
Act. Higher temperatures increase evaporation and decrease downstream
flows.
A third nuclear reactor, which Dominion is planning to build, will further
wreak havoc on an
already impaired ecosystem. This hearing is also an opportunity to oppose
new nukes (which are neither "clean" or "green") at Lake Anna.
PLEASE NOTE: If you can't be at the hearing, please call in or write up
your comments before the 18th to:
