*Speak Out Against More Nukes at North Anna*

WHEN: Wednesday, April 16, 2008 7:00 pm (Open House at 6:00 pm)

WHERE: Louisa County High School

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will hold a public meeting to inform
the public that it will issue a new Environmental Impact Statement (EIS)
for Dominion's Combined Operating License (COL) application for new
nukes at North Anna. It is expected that the NRC will state that the
environmental issues referenced in the Early Site Permit will be
considered final unless new information is available to reopen those
issues. Dominion's position is that there is no new information
available that would warrant these issues be reopened.

The key to making a difference at this meeting is to show "substantial
changes" which have occurred re: the environmental issues to convince
the NRC that they need to revisit the original Environmental Impact
Statement.

Public comment should stress global warming issues, ongoing and
ever-worsening drought conditions in central VA and the entire Southeast
and the impact of drought on nuclear plants (threats of shutdowns,
etc.).Stress that we have a water crisis throughout Virginia, that Lake
Anna is not a sufficiently robust body of water to sustain any
additional reactors and that it is already ecologically impaired.

Message should be site-specific as that is all the NRC is concerned
about for the purposes of this meeting.

Carpools will leave the Albemarle County Office Building at 5:30 p.m.

For more information call 296-2494.

*"MY NAME IS RACHEL CORRIE"*

WHEN: April 17, 18, 19, 2008 8:00 pm

WHERE: 219 West Beverley Street, Staunton (former Stonewall Jackson
school building, across from Trinity Episcopal Church)

In 2003 a young woman named Rachel Corrie was killed in Gaza while
attempting to block a bulldozer from destroying a Palestinian doctor's
home. The actor Alan Rickman was incredibly moved by her sacrifice and
all of its implications, and petitioned the Corrie family for permission
to dramatize her life.

The family agreed and released to him all of her journals, e-mails,
letters and even things as personal as voicemail messages. From this he
put together an astonishingly powerful piece as a one-woman show.

The entirety of the performance are the words of this young woman
activist as she realized she wasn't doing enough . . . . This is an
incredibly rare opportunity to get inside the head of someone trying to
change the world, of someone who honestly believes there is hope. The
play embraces her passion, her dedication, and throws it out to you to
carry on. A phenomenal celebration of life and living, and the ultimate
love for a world that could be.

Advance tickets are available for $7 (Students and seniors - $5) at the
Bookstack and Kronos Art Gallery, Staunton. Seating is limited.

WHERE: Sojourners United Church, 1017 Elliot Ave, Charlottesville

TICKETS: $15 in advance, $20 at the door. Purchase at Quest Bookstore,
619 W. Main (434) 295-3377. Or online at http://www.thequestbookshop.com/

We're living in serious times. And yet ... there's something funny going
on. Which means there is more reason to laugh, and more need for it. The
more unfunny occurrences that occur, the more important it is to fortify
ourselves with heart-opening, mind-expanding comedy. Wholehearted
laughter is the ultimate weapon of "mass-deconstruction" to blow apart
the insanity that masks itself as "sanity" in this shrinking world that
could use a good shrink.
