FREE SCREENING OF "UNCOUNTED"/DISCUSSION
WITH FILMMAKER

CCPJ will screen a new film in
Charlottesville on a very timely topic: the
verifiability of U.S.
elections. We'll bring the writer, director,
and producer of "Uncounted," David
Earnhardt, to
town to show his film and then speak about
it and lead a discussion.

There will be no charge for admission, and
we encourage you to join us and bring along
anyone who
 cares about how (and whether) votes are
counted.

CHIEF BILLY TAYAC  "THE NATIVE PEOPLE STILL
LIVE"

Chief Billy "Red Wing" Tayac of the
Piscataway Nation is coming to UVA to talk
about issues
affecting today's American Indians.

Chief Tayac has been an Indian activist for
several decades. He  is currently working to
assist
Spanish speaking Indians who are suffering a
new era of economic invasion resulting from
NAFTA
and the unregulated practices of many
multinational corporations based in the US.
Chief Tayac is
 a voice for Indian people everywhere and an
inspiration to all of us.

UGANDA CHILD SOLDIER AWARENESS WEEK EVENTS
Beginning Monday, February 18, 2008
James Madison University

Uganda Child Soldier Awareness Week will
have a special focus on female
child soldiers and child mothers.  All
events take place at James Madsion
University.

These events will feed into the Lobby Days
put on by Resolve Uganda in
Washington, DC from Feb 24th-26th.

WORLD-CLASS ARABIC MUSIC  IN CHARLOTTESVILLE

A world-class 'oud ensemble from Nazareth,
Israel, performers at Carnegie
Hall and the Jerusalem Festival.

Accompanied by percussionist Youssef
Hbeisch, the Joubran brothers present
an evening of original compositions and
improvisations, bringing to
Charlottesville a renowned representation of
the Arabic instrumental
tradition.

Feb. 19, 8 PM, McLeod Auditorium at the

SILENT MARCH

Free Speech Wall, Downtown Mall,

Greg Gelburd invites us all to join him in
silent protest of the current
administration's
policies:

There is power and strength in silence.  The
march will consist of
walking on the downtown mall, without
placards, signs or voices,
once a week, from the free speech wall to
the Omni and back. A
ten minute walk. In silence, centering on
moving the world in the
right direction. Each week, on Friday at 6
PM. Please wear something white.
