Agreed. This is why we have kept Orweb purposefully minimal.

Not sure about disabling unicode all together, but I think the idea of
perhaps a non-hyperlink "plaintext" mode, does make a lot of sense.
Somehow like Lynx possible, with all the relevant links showing as
footnotes?
