You don't have much of a choice but to stay away right now since it
doesn't look like there is a release yet.
My opinion on the development of this application is the authors don't
like working with the Jitsi codebase. Jitsi is much more mature on a
low level than any alternative, though language preference might be a
factor too. This is in C, Jitsi is all Java. Another reason is that
the phrase "Skype replacement" is a very hot item right now.

There isn't any A/V implementation and the only crypto discussed is
doing public keys for buddy lists. There also isn't a user interface.
