Nathan,
I suspected the problem with Orbot not working with Open Garden was
related to the Android OS bug with their Connectivity Manager.
 See: https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=33666

Our lead developer checked out the source code and found it is that bug.

Greg said:
Indeed, the log line "No network connectivity. Putting Tor to sleep…"
happens when ConnectivityManager tells them the network is not connected
(even though it would work).

They set the "DisableNetwork" parameter to true. I'm not sure why they
would use an explicit flag like this. The bug was introduced
here: https://lists.torproject.org/pipermail/tor-commits/2012-October/046835.html

You can reach Greg at greg at opengarden.com <mailto:greg at opengarden.com>
for any clarification.

Such a bug would also prevent OrbotVPN from working when you guys
develop that. By the way, let us know when your finishing its
development... since it won't work with Open Garden unless we work
together to detect each other. :)

*Subject:* Tor on Android over Open Garden

    Hi there,
I'm the Community Manager for Open Garden and thought it would be neat
to test Tor over the Open Garden network. If you don't know about OG,
we have a mesh networking application available on Android, Windows

and OS X. More info here: https://opengarden.com
I was successfully able to get Tor to point to Open Garden on my
MacBook Air (using Vidalia) running 10.7.5 by changing proxy settings

    to 127.0.0.1 <http://127.0.0.1> port 1080 on SOCKS 5.
Trying the same thing with Orbot on a Galaxy Tab 10.1 running Android
4.0.4 is not able to connect to the Tor network over Open Garden. It

will connect if I have a WiFi connection, but not if I'm using Open
Garden's software for my only source of Internet access.

I'm looking to write a blog post about using Tor over Open Garden but
would like to attempt to make it work on Android too bef
     ore
    posting
that it only works on the desktop clients.

Here is my Orbot log, let me know if I can do anything else to resolve this.
