[guardian-dev] Straw poll for ostel.co feature

Thanks for the responses and explanations as to why you made them. I
would like to normalize the usernames on input so they are all stored
as lower alpha numeric. This falls back on Sir Berners Lee's URI
specification from 1998, so there's probably a library that will
perform this kind of normalization. I'll move the implementation
details of this to the ostel internal project list unless everyone
reading this thread cares about how to implement URI normalization in
Ruby.
