[guardian-dev] NetCipher and gradle

I can testify that the combination of recursive submodules and gradle is
tricky enough to have blocked something I’m working on for a couple of days
now. Gradle seems to me unreasonably big for what it does, and not in the
slightest intuitive. But I’m on the most painful part of the learning
curve, maybe I’ll love it in a little while.
