A few weeks ago I spent US $0.99 on Red Onion[1], a non-jailbreak
Tor-like browser for iOS (I'm running iOS 7 on an iPhone 5) and it's
interesting. The progress screen looks very similar to the stdout from
the Tor binary while establishing a circuit. The browser itself lacks
the default "new identity" feature of the official Tor browser, though
I've managed to get it to wipe history after multiple configuration
changes.

I was surprised to see my search history from days prior available as
an auto-suggest history pull down, after not interacting with the app
for over three days, so that might be sub-optimal. It seems there is a
way to force reset after home button tap but I haven't tried that yet.

The author's name is Omar Mody and their previous work includes Fart
Call[2] and an English interpretation of the Holy Quran[3]. Curious.

The reviews of Red Onion are generally good, and the latest release
advertises this app as a way to "watch live streams of the BBC, iTV,
Aljazeera English all by streaming over Tor".

Obviously there is no way to do any code review of the Tor
implementation since it's a commercial app in the official iTunes app
store. Anyone else using this on the daily?

Best,
Lee
