MF/PL NEWS & EVENTS
US Social Forum registration is launched! May First/People Link, MF/PL
member Openflows, and the Information, Communication, and Technology
working group were instrumental in this huge development in the
organizing process. People and organizations can start registering for
the Social Forum now. Early registration runs until May 1, 2010.
Registered organizations can submit self-organized workshop proposals
until late March 2010. Visit http://ussf2010.org to start building
towards the June 2010 event in Detroit!
Social Media event at TOPP? maybe
Our members, Bluestockings Bookstore (http://bluestockings.com) is
hosting local activists and organizers, inviting them to participate in
a five-part series to sustainably build towards the second United States
Social Forum. In June 2010, national and international organizations
will be gathering in Detroit, Michigan to network and campaign in the
spirit of "Another World is Possible. Another US is Necessary!"
Grassroots groups are challenged to organize and strategize in their
communities in the months leading up to Detroit in order to build
lasting alliances in the larger struggle against globalization. Come to
Bluestockings for political discussion with fellow regional activists in
the struggle for global change.
As China and Google dominate the headlines in their battle over security
and freedom, join Radical Reference and May First/People Link as we
break down the real issues of security and freedom for activists. We'll
talk about making political choices about online technology, including
an introduction to Free and Open Source Software. During the workshop,
participants, radical techies, and Rad Ref folks will collaboratively
generate security solutions for using the Internet in an increasingly
insecure political climate.

FYI: IF YOU'RE A MF/PL MEMBER, DO YOU KNOW...
...you can see "web stats" about visitors to your site!
Website statistics on MF/PL servers are provided by a Free and Open
Source Software package called AWStats that "generates advanced web,
streaming, ftp or mail server statistics, graphically."
However, it is not enabled on all MF/PL sites automatically. If you
would like to be able to access statistics about visitors to your web
site, please open a ticket to request that web stats be setup for your
account. Be sure to include the domain name of the web site you would
like the statistics setup for.
We'll then send you a user/password combination for your graphical
statistics page!
