*Good Morning from Occupy Boston! *
Hope you have no dirty dishes stacked up.
*This is Why We Occupy: *Giant banks that screwed over the economy are
also screwing
the climate<http://www.grist.org/list/2011-11-30-giant-banks-screwing-the-economy-are-also-screwing-the-climate-s>.
For the unemployed, prospects of returning to a normal life are
bleak<http://www.nytimes.com/2011/12/02/business/for-jobless-little-hope-of-full-recovery-study-says.html?hp>.
And Frank Luntz is scared to
death<http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2011/12/01/republican-strategist-frightened-to-death-by-occupy-movement/>
by
Occupy protesters because “they are having an impact on what the American
people think of capitalism.”
*News from Occupy Boston. *Yesterday Occupy Boston was at Suffolk Superior
Court to argue its case
<http://www.occupyboston.org/2011/12/01/dec-1-court-hearing/>for
the continued restraining order preventing the City of Boston and Boston
Police Department from shutting the Occupation down. Judge Francis McIntyre
did not make a decision, announcing she would need to weight the facts of
the case and have a final decision by December 15th at the latest. The
temporary restraining order is extended until that ruling. Big shout out to
attorneys Howard Cooper and Benjamin Wish, and Occupy Boston’s kick-ass
witness Eric Martin.
*News from other Occupies. *Observing steep austerity measures have failed
to shrink deficits in Greece, Italy, Portugal, Spain and Ireland; England
has sought to shrink its deficits by imposing steep austerity measures.
Two million workers in Britain have taken to the streets
<http://www.commondreams.org/headline/2011/12/01-0>to
protest the draconian budget cuts the Cameron government is imposing.
*Occupy Inspires.* The Commonwealth of Massachusetts yesterday filed
suit<http://www.commondreams.org/headline/2011/12/01-6> against
five major banks over deceptive foreclosure practices. The lawsuit named
Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase, Wells Fargo, Citigroup, and GMAC.
