*Tuesday, November 15th 2011 - Daily Digest Special Alert*

As many of you have heard, the NYPD raided and cleared out Zucotti
Park<http://www.nytimes.com/2011/11/16/nyregion/police-begin-clearing-zuccotti-park-of-protesters.html>in
New York City early this morning.

While Michael Bloomberg, the billionaire mayor of the city, cited health
and safety reasons for the 2:00am raid; it must be noted that the sweep
came after the Occupation announced plans to literally close down Wall
Street<http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2011/11/14/occupy-protesters-hope-to-shut-down-wall-street-with-street-carnival/>this
Thursday, which, if successful, would temporarily shutdown the heart
of the global financial elite and be the biggest display of people power
yet. It is the Daily Digest's opinion (and only our opinion) that this was
undoubtedly a consideration by the city's billionaire mayor in his decision
to raid Occupy Wall Street.

We at Occupy Boston must hold fast, and remember we are continuing to build
a movement that must weather good times and bad. Already we have had many
victories, touched many lives, and made life-long connections that will
continue pursuit of social and economic justice in this country no matter
where we are.

We have stirred a discontent in sectors of privilege in this country that
had hoped they could endure generations more of enriching the few at the
expense of the many, continuing to erode what was left of our formal
democratic processes and establish a permanent plutocracy where elections
are bought, Congress is controlled and the majority of the people are left
defenseless and wondering what happened to a country that spoke of great
promise but delivered terrible injustice.

What began in Zucotti Park nearly two months ago and spread to some 2,000
cities and towns globally will not easily be quelled, but will call on all
of us hold firm and weather these storms together. We must remember that
neither change nor justice is inevitable; and we could very well see yet
another generation inherit a country that is worse for them than the one we
were born into; where median incomes are still lower, average debts still
greater, global temperatures still higher, and the grip of the 1% stronger
than ever.

Or we can decide that after they ignored us, after they laughed us, and
when they fought us we stood our ground.

This morning was an attempt to break the back of the Occupy movement; out
of a growing fear by the elites that a population which had previously sat
hunched in complacency was beginning to stand up for itself. And as Dr.
King said "Whenever men and women straighten their backs up, they are going
somewhere, because a man can't ride your back unless its bent."

For those of us who were not in New York last night to defend Occupy Wall
Street, now is our moment to show where we stand. Already plans are
underway for solidarity marches, demonstrations and other means of support
to show that we all stand united and injustice against one is injustice
against us all. Please check OccupyBoston.org for updates.

Thank you
