*Good Morning from Occupy Boston! *

*Stories of the Day. *A new survey by the Pew Research Center shows rising
class tension<http://www.nytimes.com/2012/01/12/us/more-conflict-seen-between-rich-and-poor-survey-finds.html>
as
two-thirds of Americas believe there are "strong conflicts" between rich
and poor in the United States. With an astounding 46.2 million Americans
living in poverty, a new
study<http://www.commondreams.org/headline/2012/01/11-7>by
Indiana University estimates that figure will continue to rise in coming
years, despite the recovery. And five Senators who have taken in tens of
thousands of dollars from the Koch brothers each received top
scores<http://thinkprogress.org/green/2012/01/11/402770/five-us-senators-are-perfect-koch-servants-americans-for-prosperity-reports/>
in
voting for the Koch corporate agenda.

*Other Occupies.* Occupy Wall Street protesters poured into Zuccotti
Park<http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2012/01/10/occupy-wall-street-protesters-allowed-back-into-zuccotti-park/>
as police removed the metal barricades surrounding the park and allowed the
public back in. Occupy Pittsburgh testified that if evicted, the cops will
be rickrolled <http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/12011/1202792-100.stm>.

*An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life. "A fight is going on
inside me," he said to the boy.*

*"It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil - he is
anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt,
resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego." He
continued, "The other is good - he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity,
humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion,
and faith. The same fight is going on inside you - and inside every other
person, too."*

*The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather,
"Which wolf will win?"*

*The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."*

*Event Highlight. *General Assembly is tonight! Please join us for the
decision making body of Occupy Boston and see how the consensus decision
making process works, as we peacefully and respectfully display the values
we aspire to as a community and wish for the outside world. We will be
having tonight's General Assembly at Emmanuel Church, 15 Newbury Street
(close to Arlington street)

*There's More: *Check out our Daily
Calendar<http://www.occupyboston.org/calendar/> for
a list of all events at Occupy Boston.
*Volunteer Opportunities/Announcements.*

*Speak out against the 3 Strikes Law.* The Coalition for Effective Public
Safety urges us all to write a letter or letters in support of the
editorials in The Boston Phoenix and The Globe, an op-ed column in today's
Globe and an article which just appeared in the Bay State Banner (see below
for all). Even if our letters are not published, it is important that
editors of the papers know there are people who are in support of their
editorial position. Take a specific part of the editorial for your 200
words and be specific. Mention the title of the editorial and date. You
can also read these editorials on line at http://smartoncrimema.org/ where
you can also follow links to get additional info

*Saturday – Collective Visioning with Linda Stout. *Linda Stout who is a
long time activist, having founded one of the first multi-racial, poor
people’s organizations in North Carolina, has been building “PowerUp”
networks for social change and doing visioning work. She has been asked by
several Occupies to do some visioning work with them. And now the
Anti-Oppression and Nonviolence Working groups are bringing Linda for a
visioning half-day for OB on Saturday the 14th of January from 12-3. She
can also stay from 3:15-4:45 for a train the trainers’ session to share
ideas about strategy, movement-building, etc. Both events will be at
Community Church, 565 Boylston in Boston and designed to end before the GA
which is also at Community Church. It’s all free and open. For more
information about Linda and the visioning idea, you can go to
www.powerupnetworks.org. Mostly, this is an opportunity for the OB
community to breathe, reflect and envision together where we want to be and
how to get there (or “how to be the change we want to see” as someone once
said.) For the world which is possible, Cathy Hoffman, NV Working group,
