/Made in L.A <http://www.madeinla.com/about.html>/. is an Emmy
award-winning feature documentary (70 min) that follows the remarkable
story of three Latina immigrants working in Los Angeles garment
sweatshops as they embark on a three-year odyssey to win basic labor
protections from trendy clothing retailer Forever 21. Made in L.A.
reveals the impact of the struggle on each woman’s life as they are
gradually transformed by the experience. Compelling, humorous, deeply
human, Made in L.A. is a story about immigration, the power of unity,
and the courage it takes to find your voice.

This movie can also give us a look into how organizing works through a
worker center <https://techworkerscoalition.org/summer-learning-club/5/>
model (https://techworkerscoalition.org/summer-learning-club/5/), in
this case the Garment Worker Center. What might we learn from this in
organizing within our industry?

The film is in Spanish with English subtitles.

After the movie we will engage in a conversation about the worker center
model and how we can connect our networks to effectively gain
sustainable wages and hours for all.

In the audience will be workers with Game Workers Unite, CODE-CWA, Tech
Workers Coalition, Tech Workers for Justice, and Democratic Socialists
of America.
