I have been trying to make headway on this problem, but I can't grasp it,
mostly because I can't replicate it.  So far, I tried implementing Android's
FileObserver on the DCIM folder (and subfolders) as a background-running
service to see if we're able to tell when the image is saved into any of
those folders, which has not been successful in alerting me when a file has
been created or modified by the app.  But, I keep trying...

On your device, how is the duplicate image named?  (Is the filename
identical to the one saved by Obscura?)
