I was using ffmpeg 0.9, which was the new thing at the time. Since the big libav fork, ffmpeg seems to be making new point releases every week to piss off the libav people. Arg... The concern would be whether the latest from git is stable enough for the rest of the stuff we need. And now ffmpeg is going crazy with releases, and libav is moving glacially slow because they want everything to be stable.

Thanks, very interested in hearing more. So "quality " here means intelligibility of speech? and "reiliability" means maybe reliable transformation of the voice away from the original? And I guess "security" means hard to reverse the obfuscation?
