Hi everybody,
Following up w/r/t the links Nathan passed along: we had some students
in the lab bring a variety of cameras to stage a mocked up davis
pepperspray incident thing to see what kind of metadata we'd get off
the phone video. Was a mix of android devices and iPhones. As far as
I know, people used whatever the default recording app was (I wasn't
there).
I used exiftool to extract metadata into json (a perl lib which was
recommended by a friend @ internet archive for the depth of metadata
it can pull from video, reportedly better than ffmpeg*). I have the
exiftool outputs (as both .txt and .json) @
http://metaviddemo01.ucsc.edu/rashomon/metadata/originals/ in case
they're useful. Looking forward to transitioning to informacam!
cheers.

*2 out of 6 clips had useful temporal metadata, others either had 1904
or 1946 (when ENIAC went public), we hand-aligned for ui testing
purposes.
