[Ssc-dev] eyeWitness beta prep issues

In preparation for getting the beta build process ready, a few things
have become apparent, or that we need to get done:

1) We need an End-User License Agreement and a Privacy Policy - these
can be fairly standard, and we have some that we have used in other
apps. In addition, we will put a "WARNING: BETA BETA BETA" clause at the
beginning of this, and in short, state no warranty, no guarantees, etc.
I will get a draft together of these, and share them shortly.

2) We need a statement about this being a beta test period meant for
"TESTING ONLY", and that we are not ready for the general public to
submit content yet. This means, while they can choose the IBA as an
organization to submit media to in the app, we will not automatically
approve them, send client credentials, etc. What we want are people to
report whether the basic features work or not, when crashes occur, what
was confusing, etc, and not expect to use it on the front line of Syria
quite yet...

3) Related to testing, we should include a link in the app or on Google
Play to a simple survey (perhaps a Google Form survey is easiest, as it
is mobile ready). We will also simply have our Guardian Project support
email and our existing bug submission form at
https://dev.guardianproject.info/projects/informacam available. We are
working on a testing guide for to focus people on what works NOW in the
app - as we are focused on getting features stable vs. having all
features but instability/bugs. Initially, we want people to focus on
client setup, capturing media, and sharing/exporting to themselves via
email, google drive, bluetooth, etc.. This highlights all of the client
functionality, without putting burden for us on the server yet. I am
working on this testing guide with Bryan and Harlo, and it will be an
evolving document, as each release (many and often over the next few
weeks), will have new features ready.

4) I love the icon/logo, but the "eyeWitness" brand is unfortunately not
a very strong one. In part because there are many existing news apps
called "eyeWitness" (
https://play.google.com/store/search?q=eyewitness&c=apps), and also
because the Guardian newspaper has a mobile app named eyeWitness (
http://www.guardian.co.uk/mobile/eyewitness). While Guardian Project
isn't the primary promoter or distributor of this IBA/InformaCam app, I
could imagine people still being confused about the overlapping
namespace. I also think the confusion about Witness.org vs. iWitness vs.
eyeWitness has always been a confusing one, and that we should move away
from the word "Witness" entirely in the app name.

With that in mind, here is a quick brain storm of other possible names
that I think could work:

Eye on Atrocity
Cameras on Atrocity
ViewProof
IER ("Eye'r"): International Evidence Reporter
SightTruth
SnapJustice
ProofReport
VerifyVisual
MetaProof

Please let me know if it is viable to switch to one of these in the
short term, or if we should just continue with the current name for now.

I think that is all. We are working away here trying to sort these
things out so we can get the beta 1 build pushed up for testing.

Thanks everyone.
