Subject: [Obupdates] Occupy Boston Daily Digest - Sunday, November 13, 2011
Date: Sun, Nov 13, 2011 5:47 am
Good Morning from Occupy Boston!
Below please find your daily digest.
Fact of the Day: Today, a billionaire in
the top 400 pays less than 17 percent of his income in taxes – five percentage
points less than a bus driver earning $26,000 a year.
Occupy Boston News: Daily Digest was not around last month when this came out, but wanted to bring readers' attention to this extraordinary interview by Iraq War Vet Rachel McNeil on the Occupy Boston's confrontation with police Columbus Day weekend.
News from other Occupations: Upon the demands of
occupiers, the mayor of Burlington intervened to stop the police from
unjustifiably arresting a protester. Lesson for the 99% of Americans on the losing side of an all out class war: What do you do when you are under attack? Stand up, fight back (video included).
Event Highlight: Boston's own Occupy the Hood is having a town hall meeting this Monday, 11/14, the Dudley Square Branch of the Boston Public Library system. The
objective will be to discuss issues of concern to the community, and to share
updates on Occupy Boston, Ocupemos El Barrio, and various other activist and
community organizations. Come one, come all!
Occupy Boston - Sunday, November 13th, 2011
Today's Weather and Events: Mostly
sunny. Not as cool with highs in the lower 60s. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph.
Gusts up to 20 mph...increasing to 30 mph in the afternoon. Check out our Calendar of Events for today, also posted at the bottom of this email.
Highlights: Knitters for Occupy Boston at 2:30pm (Meet at Gandhi Statue) Come learn to knit or use your knitting skills to knit for the Occupy Boston movement. Feel free to bring crochet materials to make hats, scarves, gloves, and other warm items. There will be patterns available.
