wow.  so this points to having a mechanism that requires an absolute
minimum amount of data transfer and probably the absolute minimum
requirement for "live" network connection.  Is this the "ideal case" for
the "notary" type of backend (where only the metadata hash is sent "live"
and the image with metadata is never sent over the air network)?
